Leading 28-22 at halftime, Eastern Nazarene built a 10-point lead AT 32-22 following a basket by sophomore forward Abbie Tonello (Plymouth, MA) with 17:44 to play.
The Golden Bears got within 35-30 after freshman forward Sam McCann (Warren, MA) made two foul shots at the 14:50 mark.
The Lions went on a 16-6 run to take their biggest lead at 48-34 when junior guard Mel Green (Annapolis, MD) drained a three-pointer with 8:25 remaining.
Western New England (4-9, 3-3 CCC) answered with a 12-2 run to get within 50-46 following a pair of three-pointers by sophomore guard Ali Pessolano (Hampden, MA), the last coming with 1:32 left.
Junior guard Ace Carradine (Honolulu, HI) made four free throws in the final 1:29 to seal the win. Carradine injured her ankle in the opening half, but came back to finish with six rebounds and three assists.
Green finished with 10 points and four rebounds coming off the bench. Junior forward Alexis Malloy (Washington, DC) contributed nine rebounds.
Pessolano led Western New England with 16 points while junior guard Emily Savino (Ellington, CT) netted 10. McCann had a team best seven rebounds.
The Golden Bears had a rough shooting game making only 25.8% of its field-goal attempts and just seven-of-13 charity attempts for 53.8%.
Eastern Nazarene fared better shooting 41.3% from the field and 70.6% from the foul line. The Lions also had a 45-37 advantage in rebounds.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior forward Shardae Brown (Waterbury, CT) compiled a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds as the Eastern Nazarene women's basketball team defeated Western New England 55-48 Saturday afternoon (Jan. 14) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
