In a game delayed by one of the biggest storms in New England history, Springfield got 20 points from Alex Berthiaume and 19 from Nick Sienkiewicz to upset No. 2 WPI, handing the Engineers their first loss of the season.

WPI was the last unbeaten team in Division III men's basketball.

Springfield took the lead for good on a pair of Sienkiewicz free throws with 2:02 left. The Pride had led by as many as 10, 43-33, earlier in the half on a Sienkiewicz 3-pointer before a 15-4 run put the Engineers back on top.

Amherst jumped out to a 23-12 lead and Williams never got within six points the rest of the way as the Lord Jeffs cruised past the Ephs 65-48.

The No. 6 team held its No. 7 archrival to 30 percent shooting from the floor and just 2-for-15 from 3-point range. Taylor Epley was 1-for-8 from the floor and finished with just four points. Allen Williamson led Amherst with 16 points, while Aaron Toomey had 14 and Willy Workman added 13 points and 13 rebounds.

No. 20 Washington University held No. 4 Rochester to 32 percent shooting from the floor and 6-for-26 from beyond the arc as the Bears defeated the Yellowjackets 72-53. Rochester remains one game up on the Bears with three games to play in the race for the UAA title and automatic bid.

Women's wrapup

Williams dealt Amherst its first conference loss since 2009 as the Ephs dominated the Lord Jeffs 71-51. Williams led Amherst to 27 percent shooting (16-for-59) and Claire Beacher led the Ephs with 30 points. The Ephs' victory creates a three-way tie for first place in the NESCAC with Amherst, Williams and Tufts all tied at 8-1.

The Rochester women shot 11-for-19 from 3-point range and placed six scorers in double figures to lead the Yellowjackets to a 93-74 win at No. 12 Washington U. Breanna Madrazo and Ally Zywicki each shot 4-for-6 from downtown in the victory.

No. 20 Emory bounced back from its Friday loss at Wash U by winning 80-65 at the University of Chicago behind 19 apiece from Misha Jackson and Danielle Landry. Emory and Rochester remain tied for first in the UAA, with Wash U one game back.
