You've likely heard all of the cliches about seniors looking to extend their careers, and there are hundreds of them out there this time of year. For MIT's Jimmy Bartolotta, the Jostens finalist, his career was extended by a Billy Bender jumper with one second left in regulation in the NEWMAC's first round. Bartolotta finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots as MIT ended Coast Guard's remarkable string of NEWMAC Tournament victories. He was also named CoSIDA's ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America of the year on Wednesday.

In women's action, No. 13 Messiah fell at home to Widener 60-57 in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals. Messiah, which had beaten the Pride 71-47 on Saturday, becomes the first team to likely take an at-large bid away from someone else. The Falcons entered the week fifth in the NCAA's Mid-Atlantic Region rankings. Widener will play at Lebanon Valley, winners against Albright, on Saturday for the conference title. DeSales advanced past King's in the MAC Freedom semifinals while Scranton kept its Pool B playoff candidacy on solid ground with a win against Susquehanna. DeSales will host Manhattanville for the conference title, while Scranton will get a rubber match against Moravian in the Landmark's final season before it qualifies for an automatic bid. Kean and TCNJ each easily advanced to the NJAC finals, beating Montclair State and William Paterson by 21 and 20 apiece. Cabrini reached its highest win total in 13 years, defeating Cedar Crest 70-52. The Cavaliers will host Gwynedd-Mercy, which got 20 points from Kristy Cramp to top Neumann 76-68, on Saturday for the CSAC title.
