The spoils of victory

With varying degrees of drama, several teams wrapped up their conference's regular season title and home court advantage throughout the playoffs.

The NJAC had an exciting night with the top teams on each side facing off for the division title. Hillary Klimowicz posted a double-double (21 points, 18 rebounds) to help New Jersey beat Kean 73-61 to capture the South division. Montclair State knocked off William Paterson 78-68 to win the North. Rutgers-Newark went on a 17-2 run in the second half to beat New Jersey City 57-44 and clinch the final berth in the conference's tournament.

Less dramatic but no less effective, No. 2 Hope wrapped up the MIAA women's title in rolling past Olivet, 102-52. Fifteen players scored as it was the second game in a row in which the Flying Dutch scored more than 100 points. No. 9 York (Pa.) clinched its first CAC title with its 23rd consecutive win, 81-53 over Gallaudet. Wednesday's women's scores.

Chatham comes right back to their place for the tourney quarterfinals.

Melissa Martinelli scored 26 points to lead Coast Guard past Mount Holyoke 73-66 in overtime. The win means the Bears, who started the season 1-15 overall, have split their last eight games and qualified for the NEWMAC tournament. Denison, which has long since clinched the NCAC top seed, is within one game of running the conference table after sprinting out to a 44-14 halftime lead and rolling over Earlham 69-46.
