You probably haven't heard of the team. You can't go see them play at home and until three months ago, they didn't even exist.
That's the life of the Wells College basketball program, with this year being the first year of men's basketball at the formerly all-women's school. (Division III basketball fans are even less likely to be familiar since they didn't sponsor women's basketball either.)
Despite all that's stacked against them, however, the Express have been fairly competitive, having won seven of their past 11 to get to 8-9. But this team has gone through a lot both on and off the court to get to this point. More on Wells in this week's Around the Nation.

The McMurry women's basketball team went 25-1 last year against teams that didn't win the national championship. It's that titlist, Howard Payne, that tripped them up. Four times. That's 10 months of pent-up motivation since Howard Payne's last defeat of McMurry in last year's second-round NCAA Tournament game. A preview in Around the Nation.
