Tuesday isn't anywhere near as super a night in Division III basketball as it is in the primary cycle, but it was big enough for Plattsburgh State.
Antwane Miller scored 10 of his 18 points and Anthony Williams added nine of his game-high 29 during a 30-12 run to help No. 14 Plattsburgh State rally from a 22-point second-half deficit and win at Middlebury, 78-74. The Cardinals shot 71 percent from the floor in the second half to overcome a first period in which they shot 20% and made just five field goals. Plattsburgh improved to 18-2 while Middlebury fell to 15-5. Tuesday's men's schedule and scores.
Pacific Lutheran took No. 13 Puget Sound to an extra session, but Antwan Williams made sure it ended there, as his shot with one second left in overtime lifted the Loggers to a 98-97 win.
In women's action, Bowdoin beat rival Bates 64-57, though it was not the game which counts in the NESCAC standings. That comes Feb. 16. Maria Noucas scored 15 points, all from three-point range, in the win. Mallory Heydorn scored 19 points as No. 16 Illinois Wesleyan avenged one of its two losses, winning at Millikin 77-63.
&&b-boxr&&All-American Liz Hickey scored 12 and blocked five shots as No. 4 Mary Washington beat Bridgewater (Va.) 81-56.
