Kathleen Fidelia went 9-for-9 at the foul line en route to 19 points to lead Wheaton (Ill.) past No. 6 Calvin and fourth-ranked Hope rolled past Carthage in the opening night of the women's CCIW/MIAA Challenge at Hope.
The MIAA took both games in the men's event at Calvin, with No. 16 Hope crushing No. 22 Wheaton (Ill.) 83-53 and No. 15 Calvin defeating Carthage 75-63.
Goucher continued to show that 40 minutes were not enough, going to 50 minutes and still losing to Greensboro 86-78. It's the fourth consecutive overtime game for Goucher, all losses, setting a Division III record. Grove City came up with another last-minute win, losing a 13-point lead with 4:46 left in the game. After Geneva hit an apparent buzzer-beating 3-pointer, .5 seconds were put back on the clock and Grove City drew a foul on the inbounds pass, hitting both free throws to win. Brian Fink scored 30 points to help lead Manhattanville past Ramapo 88-85 in a meeting of two 2007 NCAA Tournament teams.
