ASC women's title game sets attendance mark

D3hoops.com research shows that today's American Southwest Conference women's basketball tournament title game is the highest for a regular-season women's game in Division III history. It's the second-highest overall, following the 4,001 for the 1996 national title game in Oshkosh, Wis., between Mount Union and UW-Oshkosh.

Howard Payne defeated McMurry 49-40 Sunday afternoon in front of an official count of 3,680 fans in Brownwood Coliseum in Brownwood, Texas, to win the conference tournament and claim the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The highest recorded women's single-game attendance entering the season was 3,154 for a game between Edgewood and Hope in November 2005.
