Freshman Melissa Gilkey scored 19 points and classmate Maddy Scheppers added 15 as No. 8 Washington U. won in Rochester for the first time since 2007, beating the No. 5 Yellowjackets 60-55.
The Bears' victory improved their record to 16-3, 6-2 in the UAA, and moved the Bears in to a tie for second place with Rochester in the conference standings. No. 2-ranked Chicago won at Emory 79-55 to remain unbeaten in league play as well, for its 22nd consecutive UAA victory.
Caroline Stedman scored a game-high 18, Lem Atanga McCormick added 17 and Shannon Finucane added 14 as No. 1 Amherst beat Bates 75-63. It's the 40th consecutive win for the defending champion Lord Jeffs.
Friday's men's games
No. 1 Middlebury led for the last 39 minutes and was up by as many as 10 in the second half, but had to hold on to beat Bowdoin 79-76. Joey Kizel scored 26 points to lead the Panthers. Ryan O'Connell hit two three-pointers for the Polar Bears in the final 15 seconds to keep the game close. No. 6 Amherst and No. 16 Williams each won in NESCAC action on Friday night as well. In the UAA, No. 17 Emory and No. 19 NYU each won, while Rochester knocked off No. 25 Washington U. 94-84 behind 27 points from John DiBartolomeo. No. 11 Birmingham-Southern came back from a second-half deficit and defeated Millsaps 64-52, winning its 12th game in a row to improve to 19-1.
Jake Simmons scored 25 points and hit seven of Buffalo State's 12 three-pointers en route to a 92-74 victory over host Plattsburgh State. The Bengals improved to 16-3, 9-3 in the SUNYAC.
